A Peaceful Dwelling

Stuck?

Hints below, mildest first. Each one gives away a little more than the last. Stop reading the moment something clicks — the game is kinder to those who figure it out themselves, and so is Aunt Edith.

I can't get into the lighthouse.

Hint 1: Edith's journal told you exactly where the key is. It's in the study, in her last entry.

Hint 2: "The key is where I keep the tea. It always is." Look at the tins on the study shelf.

I'm at the green door and nothing I click will open it.

Hint 1: That's right. Nothing you click will open it. The Keeper said the door answers only to its name, spoken "where you tell your machine where to go."

Hint 2: Look at the top of your browser — at the web address of the page you're on. You are going to edit it by hand.

Hint 3: The whole town has been telling you the name all game: the riddle in the library, the collar on the beach, the day missing from every calendar, notice board, and bus timetable in Wrenfell. It is also the cat's name.

Final hint (the answer, in full): Replace everything after the last slash in the address with the name of the missing day, so the address ends in /thursday — then press enter.

I found the missing day. Is that everything?

There are four endings. The bus counts. If you've only seen one, Aunt Edith offers three choices for a reason — and the third one is the hardest to earn and the best to have.
