The Parlour
The parlour is small and fierce with doilies. An armchair by the fire has a cat-shaped dent in its cushion and a fine silvering of grey fur. On the mantel: photographs of Aunt Edith at various ages, always squinting at the camera as if she suspected it of something.
From here you can reach the whole cottage, and the garden gate beyond.
