The Post Office
The post office is the domain of Verity Sparrow, postmistress, who has the bearing of someone who has read every postcard that ever passed through Wrenfell and been disappointed by most of them.
"You'll be Edith's," she says. It is not a question. She studies you over her glasses, reaches a decision, and produces from under the counter a letter. "This came for her the day after she โ well. The day after. Can't deliver it. Won't destroy it. That leaves you."
The envelope is heavy paper, no stamp, no postmark. It did not come through any system Verity Sparrow administers, and her expression says she resents this deeply.
